Seattle Police Begin Enforcing Law After Antifa/Biden Inauguration Video

The Breitbart News reported Jan. 24 that Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz announced Saturday (Jan. 23) that there will be stricter enforcement of vandalism to property. According to a report in the Seattle Times, Chief Diaz told reporters that he wants to crack down on vandalism to property within a few months.

On Jan. 20, the day of Biden‘s inauguration, Antifa staged a violent protest in Seattle that led to the destruction of several downtown Seattle businesses. Rioters also set fire to the streets and burned an American flag. Seattle police reported that they made three arrests during the riot.

Anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (anti-ICE), anti-prison mobs marched through the streets carrying Antifa flags. Independent journalist Brendan Gutenschwager tweeted that they were chanting “No police, no prisons, cancel it all!” The protest took place on the night of Jan. 20, across Seattle.

Seattle police tweeted. The protest turned violent, with Antifa smashing the windows of several businesses and local courthouses.

Seattle Police Chief Diaz was working with Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes to discuss a new policy of increased prosecutions, Seattle Police Department spokeswoman Valerie Carson told a local newspaper. The result is said to be an agreement to increase prosecutions, but DA Holmes still believes that the misdemeanor policy should remain intact.

Police Chief Diaz said many of the 600 people arrested since last spring have not been prosecuted, most of them for misdemeanors.

The police chief told reporters, “I’ve been talking to the city attorney, and he’ll start prosecuting these cases. He has actually allowed his staff to assist and review the cases for us while they are being prosecuted to the maximum extent possible.”

However, the police chief and the city attorney don’t seem to be on the same page. City Attorney spokesman Dan Nolte responded to a reporter’s inquiry by saying, “The policy of the Seattle City Attorney’s office is consistent. DA Holmes has no interest in prosecuting peaceful protesters. “

On Saturday, police department officials tweeted out another message that protesters had taken to the streets again that day, but did not say whether vandalism or arrests had occurred.
