The COVID-19 epidemic in the U.S. is heating up and the total number of diagnosed cases exceeds 25 million.

Just days after President Joe Biden‘s inauguration, Johns Hopkins University data show that the United States has reported more than 25 million confirmed cases and more than 410,000 deaths from the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak to date.

In absolute terms, the United States still has the highest number of confirmed 2019 coronavirus disease cases in the world.

According to Johns Hopkins University’s outbreak data today, India, with a population roughly four times that of the United States, has reported more than 10.6 million confirmed cases to date, the second most of any country in the world.

The U.S. reported its first confirmed case in January 2020, and the total number of confirmed cases only surpassed 1 million by the end of April, but the number of confirmed cases has grown almost exponentially since then.

President Joe Biden has announced that he hopes to have 100 million Americans vaccinated within 100 days of his inauguration, and has called on the American public to wear masks for 100 days.
