Since Europe and the United States began vaccinating with the new crown vaccine, there have been several cases of death shortly after vaccination, and experts say that up to now, no direct link between the deaths and the vaccination has been found.
Last week, 33 elderly people died in Norway shortly after being given the Pfizer vaccine to some 20,000 nursing Home residents, immediately raising concerns about the vaccine’s safety performance.
Norwegian health authorities said a study of the deceased found that at least 13 of them were not only “extremely old” but also “extremely weak” and had “serious illnesses” of their own. Therefore, there was no direct link between the deaths and the vaccination. However, the Norwegian health authorities speculate that the common side effects of vaccination, such as fever and nausea, while not affecting healthy people, may have caused death in some frail elderly people.
The above incident sparked widespread concern outside of Norway and was even used as a basis for opposing the use of vaccines, forcing the Norwegian health authorities to come out and emphasize that there is no evidence of a relationship between vaccines and deaths after vaccination.
The French Pharmaceutical Agency said on January 22 that nine of the 800,000 elderly people living in nursing homes for the chronically and severely ill elderly (Ehpad) died of illness after being administered the Pfizer vaccine. Most of the elderly people living in such nursing homes in France are over eighty years old, suffering from multiple diseases and have lost the ability to take care of themselves. The French Medical Agency said that after research, no antecedents or consequences were found between the deaths of the elderly and the vaccination.
There have also been separate cases in Sweden and Iceland of deaths of elderly and frail people shortly after vaccination, 13 in Sweden and 7 in Iceland, but neither found any relationship to the vaccination.
Authorities in Portugal reported an incident earlier in the month in which a medical professional died two days after vaccination, but the country’s justice minister announced that autopsy results showed “no direct link between the death and the New Crown vaccine.”
On Jan. 18, French Health Minister Veyran said that “71 elderly people have died so far in the EU after vaccination,” but he did not provide further details.
The EU Medicines Agency said the same day that “none of the deaths of vaccinated elderly people are related to vaccination,” but the head said that whenever a death or a serious accident occurs, the authorities have to launch an investigation to study whether the vaccine played any role. So far, these deaths are not considered “unnatural deaths.
In most European countries, the first vaccinations are given to the elderly, and in France, the first vaccinations are given to people over the age of 80. Infection specialist Stephen Evans said, “When we vaccinate high-risk groups, there are deaths that occur simultaneously shortly after vaccination.”
European health authorities do not consider the deaths mentioned above as proof that something went wrong with the safety of the vaccine, but emphasize vaccination surveillance and a serious investigation of all deaths or serious side effects that occur after vaccination.
