US President Joe Biden has started to purge Trump‘s people! The New York Times and the Independent pointed out that the acting CEO of the U.S. Agency for International Media (USAGM), Mr. Kluwer Chao, who was appointed by Biden, has fired the heads of three U.S. government-funded international radio stations, including Stephen Yates, the president of Radio Free Asia (RFA), a very friendly station.
Stephen Yates, president of Radio Free Asia, Victoria Coates, president of Middle East Broadcasting Network (MEBN), and Ted Lipien, president and CEO of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), have been fired by the Acting Executive Director of the U.S. International Media Agency (IMA), who is responsible for U.S. foreign broadcasting, on the 22nd, just about a month after their appointments. The three were appointed just about a month ago. In addition, the director and deputy director of the Voice of America (VOA) and the director of the Cuban Broadcasting Office also resigned the day before.
The former Vice President of the United States, Mr. Yeh Wang Hui, was the deputy national security adviser to former Vice President of the United States, and Mr. Koz was the deputy national security adviser to Trump.
According to reports, Biden has just stepped into the White House, forcing USAGM’s former executive director Michael Pack to leave the company and appointing Carol Chao as acting executive director. Pack said last month that USAGM’s media was full of “anti-Trump” journalists, while the Democratic Party has continued to criticize Pack for trying to turn Voice of America and other media into “pro-Trump” propaganda tools. In fact, the five people who were fired were appointed by Pike.
In a memo to staff, Cho said there is still much work to be done to ensure that staff have the highest standards of professionalism, editorial independence is protected and journalistic justice is upheld.
