Breitbart News reported on Jan. 23 that while the American public welcomes the concept of immigration in general, immigration questionnaires in relation to jobs show that Americans still want Americans first when it comes to jobs.
Rasmussen Reports (Rasmussen Reports) asked in a recent survey that
Which of the following options do you think is best for the U.S., given that companies say it is difficult to recruit Americans for construction, manufacturing, hospitality and other service jobs?
1Even if it leads to higher prices, companies should raise wages and try to recruit Americans who don’t have jobs
2 To reduce business costs and prices, the government would have to bring in new foreign workers
The results of the questionnaire responses show that 66% of Americans would prefer to raise wages and recruit Americans, while only 19% would choose to increase foreign workers. Among Republican respondents, 74 percent would prefer to recruit Americans, while 13 percent would like to increase foreign workers. Among “other” voters, 62 percent chose Americans first and 20 percent chose to bring in foreign workers. The Rasmussen poll also shows that even Democrats strongly support hiring Americans (64 percent) and oppose hiring foreign workers (23 percent).
Breitbart News also said that a wide variety of polls over the years have shown strong popular opposition to temporary contract workers flowing into the U.S. and taking jobs with American college graduates.
In 2016, voters showed strong solidarity with their fellow Americans, bringing Donald Trump‘s America First policy to the White House. With Trump in the White House, America First policies have lowered unemployment in the U.S. and raised the average wage for American families by 7 percent in 2019. 2020 Trump received 32 percent of the Latino vote, in part because many Latinos want to be self-sufficient Americans rather than government-dependent Latino-Americans.
In the face of the immediate Biden Amnesty proposal for immigrants, Republican leaders in Congress have voiced opposition, with Republican House leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) questioning Jan. 21, “Will this proposal help Americans get back to work? Before granting amnesty to immigrants, the Biden Administration must first work to help our own citizens.”
