Five young former White House junior staffers are following former President Trump to Florida to help him set up his personal office and plan his next move.
“The Washington Examiner reported Jan. 23 that a former White House official familiar with the situation revealed that the team is using Trump’s private property, Mar-a-Lago, to set up the office.
The former official said it sounded a bit like a public relations team.
Trump brought a small group of junior White House staffers to Florida on Jan. 20, a move similar to how several former U.S. presidents have lived since leaving office.
Margo Martin, who used to be Trump’s White House press aide and often guided reporters in and out of the Oval Office, is helping Trump interact with the outside world.
Other members of the small team include Trump’s former personal assistant Nick Luna, White House senior team director Will Russell, former Oval Office coordinator Molly Michael, and Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
Luna’s wife (Cassidy) also joins the Florida team. She worked for Jared Kushner in the White House and will continue to work for Kushner. Kushner moved to the Sunshine State with Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and their children.
Martin and Hutchinson are both under 25.
“He (Trump) has a fairly young staff team there, which is typical for an outgoing president,” the former official said.
“He (Trump) is still a very popular figure for the younger staff, and it’s been a good experience.” The former official said.
Trump traveled to the golf course from Sea Lake Estates (Mar-a-Lago) both Thursday and Friday, he played a round Thursday morning and did not arrive at the course until 1:20 p.m. on Friday and went straight to lunch, the report said.
“We’re going to do something, not now, but soon,” Trump told Rob Crilly of the Washington Examiner on Friday. Trump did not provide more details.
Trump’s top aide, Stephen Miller, told The Washington Examiner on Friday, “Florida is really the ideal place to be the new headquarters for the MAGA movement and the starting point for the president’s next steps. “
Miller said Trump could make a difference politically. He added, “This movement is starting, and it’s an initial movement. The president is still in the beginning stages, and his journey is just beginning.”
Trump’s new team is currently handling phone calls, organizing office space and logistics. The former official said, “If he (Trump) needs to reach out to Senator Graham, then they will be there to help him.”
The paper said Trump has a huge campaign war chest, which is expected to allow him to play an important role in next year’s midterm elections and help the Republicans fight for control of the House and Senate.
