ICE officials received orders to release all illegal immigrants in custody “in their entirety,” Breitbart News reported.
Officials in charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been ordered to release all foreign illegal immigrants detained in the United States after President Joe Biden‘s administration ordered a halt to their deportation.
An internal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo, independently reviewed by Breitbart News and first reported by Tucker Carlson, a conservative U.S. political journalist and author and current affairs commentator for FoxNews.com, ordered immigration officials to “halt all deportations,” including land and air deportations, on Jan. 21.
In addition, the memo orders officials that “all persons involved” now in ICE custody will be considered to have “no significant likelihood of removal in the foreseeable future. — which means all detainees will need to be released.
“Release them all, immediately,” U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wrote in the memo. Typically, if detained in the U.S. without a sponsor, officials can hold a person in custody. But that is no longer the case, the memo states, and even detainees without a sponsor must be released.
It is unclear whether U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has begun mass releases of all 14,195 illegal immigrants in custody, or not. Of these detainees, 71.45 percent are convicted criminals or have pending criminal charges. These illegal immigrants are currently being held in approximately 138 prisons across the United States.
As a result of Biden’s executive order halting deportations of illegal immigrants for at least 100 days, ICE has halted all deportations regardless of whether the illegal immigrants have criminal convictions. The move is a longtime goal of the open borders lobbying team, which has sought a permanent halt to deportation orders.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have not yet responded to a request for comment on this release.
