A Russian-German gas pipeline is being laid in Lubmin, northeastern Germany, March 26, 2019.
Before Biden became president, he and his team were calling for an end to construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which was immediately canceled on his first day in office. Former President Trump‘s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
Some mainstream media, environmental groups and the Biden Administration have claimed that the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline has generated opposition from environmentalists and has become a symbol of the battle over climate change and fossil fuels. Trump Jr. has a different view on this.
Trump Jr. tweeted on the 22nd that it was worth noting that canceling the construction of the “Archstone XL” pipeline would not end oil transportation, but would only force oil companies to spend more money relying on billionaire Warren Buffett’s railroad to deliver oil. “This isn’t about environmental policy, it’s about payback for big Democratic donors, nothing more.”
The “Archstone XL” pipeline will be stopped, but oil will still be transported, but it will have to be transported to consumers more efficiently and at a higher cost. Transportation will shift to rail or truck.
Daniel Turner, founder and executive director of Power The Future, a nonprofit that advocates for U.S. energy jobs, also noted that Biden’s entire energy agenda could be a big gift to the Chinese Communist Party.
Turner analyzed that Canada also has an economy to run, and the country has a lot of oil to sell. If the “Archstone XL” project is stopped, Canada’s oil will simply be sold elsewhere. China? Most likely. As the world’s largest oil importer, China imports 10-11 million barrels of oil per day. China is certainly willing to buy oil from countries other than the United States.
“Canada needs revenue and jobs, China needs oil. It would be a foreign policy debacle to give away our reliable, cheap, abundant crude neighbors to the north to the Chinese Communist countries,” Turner said, adding that Russia and Venezuela would be happy to see their market share increase due to the Biden administration’s blunders. More foreign policy disasters can be predicted if Biden continues the tradition of the Obama era.
