India plans to hold a 28-nation joint defense conference to sell arms to friendly countries, pointing to the Chinese Communist Party’s Indian Ocean expansion

In view of the gradual expansion of the Chinese Communist Party in the Indian Ocean, India will invite 28 countries to a forum of defense ministers to focus on security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean at the India Airshow to be held in Bangalore, the third largest city, on February 4.

The Indian media “The Print” (The Print) on Saturday (23) cited defense sources revealed that the Indian air show will be held in Bangalore from February 3 to 5, the Indian government intends to take the opportunity to invite the defense ministers of 28 countries entitled “strengthening peace, security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean” forum, and to sell India’s indigenous defense equipment to friendly countries. This move by New Delhi is a direct reference to the regional threat of the Chinese Communist Party.

Sources quoted by The Press said that the Indian Ocean is of strategic importance to India, and India has changed its national positioning from “security provider” to “preferred security partner”, hoping to strengthen cooperation between India and relevant countries in the Indian Ocean region by holding forums and meetings.

According to a 2017 report by the Vivekananda International Foundation, an Indian think tank, the Indian Ocean will play a large part in the future strategic thinking of the Chinese Communist Party. The Indian Ocean is bordered by Africa to the west, Asia to the east and north, and Australia to the southeast. The Indian Ocean region accounts for 40 percent of global oil production, stimulating rapid economic growth and becoming a strategic center of gravity for major powers.
