D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the Democratic-led House and Senate will pass Washington, D.C., into a U.S. state and send it to Biden‘s desk, Breitbart News Service reported Friday.
Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser told JustTheNews on Friday that the Democratic-led Senate and House will vote to support the District of Columbia becoming a U.S. state and send the bill to the desk of President Joe Biden, who has expressed support for D.C. statehood in the past.
The nation’s capital, the federal enclave, continues to exist as the nation’s capital, and everything beyond those new borders becomes the 51st state,” Bowser said. Our congresswoman – we had our first successful vote on statehood in the House last year. She reintroduced the bill. She had a record number of supporters.”
She continued, “It will be reintroduced in the Senate in a few weeks, and we hope to have a favorable vote in the Senate as well before it goes to the President of the United States. The key concern we’ve raised with President Biden is supporting statehood in D.C. and making it part of his 100-day agenda.”
She added, “Except we don’t have two senators, we pay the same federal taxes as you do, we pay the same federal taxes as every citizen in all fifty states of the United States, and we literally have no one in the Senate to speak for us. We must have full representation.”
