In response to the Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) outbreak, U.S. President Joe Biden issued a mask order immediately after taking office, requiring masks to be worn at federal agencies and on mass transit. But a few hours after signing the executive order, Biden was photographed visiting the Lincoln Memorial without a mask.
The Forsyth News reports that Biden was photographed without a mask when he visited the Lincoln Memorial in the evening after signing the executive order mandating the wearing of masks on Wednesday, and his Family was also spotted without masks. Biden had tweeted Wednesday that wearing a mask is not a partisan issue, but a patriotic practice, which is why he signed the executive order.
In response, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the president was celebrating a historic day in the U.S. “We’re taking a lot of precautions here” and “at this moment, we have bigger issues to worry about.
