Trump makes first public remarks since arriving in Florida

Outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump (Trump) and First Lady Melania Trump arrive at West Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, Jan. 20, 2021.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump (Trump) made his first public remarks in Florida on Friday (Jan. 22) after leaving office and leaving the White House.

“We’re going to do something, not now, but soon,” Trump told Rob Crilly of the Washington Examiner on Friday. Trump did not provide more details.

“The Washington Examiner reported that Trump made the comments while dining with friends at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. A Trump aide then quickly intervened and politely ended Trump’s interaction with the media.

It was also the first thing Trump said to media reporters since he left the White House and flew to Florida on Wednesday.

The report said Trump traveled to the golf course from Sea Lake Estates (Mar-a-Lago) both Thursday and Friday, and that he played a round Thursday morning and did not arrive at the course until 1:20 p.m. Friday to eat lunch directly.

A Trump aide said earlier this week, “He (Trump) needs a break, and I think we all want him to just play golf for a month, but he’s always going to stay busy at all times.”

In a brief speech after his departure ceremony at Andrews Air Force Base on Wednesday (Jan. 20), Trump said, “We’ll be back in a different way!”

“I wish the new administration good luck and success. I think they’re going to be a great success. They have the foundation to accomplish great things.” Trump added, “We’ll be back in some form!” The comment drew loud cheers from the crowd.

Stephen Miller, Trump’s top aide, told the Washington Examiner on Friday, “Florida is really the ideal place to be the new headquarters for the MAGA movement and the starting point for the president’s next steps. “

Miller said Trump could make a difference politically. He added, “This movement is starting, and it’s an initial movement. The president is still in the beginning stages, and his journey is just beginning.”

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told “Just the News AM” on Thursday that he expects former President Trump to “become a leader in the nation in terms of votes and voting integrity” in the coming months.

Asked if Trump’s future plans include building a social media or cable network or taking legislative action, and whether he has any plans for future elections, Miller revealed that Trump “has a lot of goals for the next few years …… including winning back the House and Senate for Republicans in 2022 to make sure we can stop the Democrats’ madness (behavior).

Miller said he believes Trump is close to rolling out plans, which are expected to take full shape in the coming months, that will include working closely with states and legislatures to ensure the validity and integrity of future U.S. elections and the citizen vote.

He revealed that Trump will not start acting immediately now; he will do so after a period of transition. “This is important, and we have to do it.” Miller concluded.

A small team followed Trump to Florida.

Carl Domino, a member of Trump Golf Club since it opened in 1999, told the Washington Examiner he doesn’t know what Trump will do next.

Domino, a financier and former Florida state legislator, said, “He (Trump) is a very unpredictable person.”
