A man with a knife slashed several students and took hostages to confront police outside the Construction Road Campus of Yunnan Normal University Experimental Middle School in Kunming, Yunnan Province, Jan. 22. He was shot in the head by a police officer and died in a corner. The incident left two people dead and five injured, one of whom was an adult, informed netizens disclosed.
According to local media reports, at 17:00 on January 22, a hostage taking case occurred on Dongfeng West Road, Wuhua District, Kunming City. At present, the suspect has been killed by the police and the hostage was rescued. The investigation of the case is being carried out urgently.
The video released by the netizens shows that the hacking and hijacking of students took place in front of Yunnan Normal University Experimental Middle School in Kunming. A middle-aged man with a knife took a student hiding in the corner of the building at the entrance of the school and police confrontation. In about 15 meters away from the ground, lying down a student was cut, bleeding a lot, paramedics are carrying out medical treatment.
The man holding the student at knifepoint was crouched in a corner, wearing a hat. The video can be seen, the man was a shot to the head, the hat also fell off, the man immediately collapsed to the ground. Surrounded by dozens of police officers swarmed around.
According to an internal police release, the knife-wielding man slashed seven people and then held a student hostage and confronted police. One hospital received five injured people, two of whom later died and three were in surgery.
