Deng Zuling, the former director of Chongqing’s Public Security Bureau who fell in June last year, was reported today (22) to have been “arrested” and transferred to prosecution. Officials previously reported that he was involved in a number of charges, including “deluded discussion of the central government,” which is usually used to refer to Xi Jinping.
On Jan. 22, the Communist Party’s top prosecutor said that Deng Zuling, former deputy mayor of Chongqing and director of the city’s public security department, had been transferred to the prosecutor’s office for review and prosecution after the State Supervisory Commission concluded its investigation. Recently, the Supreme Procuratorate made a decision to arrest Deng Cullin on suspicion of accepting bribes. The case is being further processed.
In the evening of June 14, 2020, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and State Supervision Commission website announced that Deng Cullin, vice mayor of Chongqing and director of the Public Security Bureau, had fallen. on the afternoon of June 24, Deng Cullin was removed from his position as vice mayor of Chongqing and director of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau.
Public information shows that Deng Cullin, born in March 1965, Wuhan, Hubei, had a long tenure in Hubei, served as Deputy Director of the Office of Hubei Provincial Township Enterprise Bureau (at the division level), Director of the Department of Retired Cadres of Hubei Provincial Township Enterprise Administration, Director of the Office of Hubei Provincial Economic Commission, Vice Mayor of Yichang City Government of Hubei Province, Standing Committee of Yichang Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Deputy Director and Party Committee Member of the Hubei Provincial Public Security Department (at the director level), to 2015 to 2017 as Director of the Office of the Central Committee of Political and Legal Affairs and Head of the Anti-Split Guidance and Coordination Office, the then Secretary of the Central Committee of Political and Legal Affairs was Meng Jianzhu.
Deng恢林 July 2017 airborne Chongqing, successively served as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Political and Legal Affairs (and), Director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Secretary of the Party Committee, Inspector General (and), Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Political and Legal Affairs (and), since January 2018, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government, member of the Party Group, Director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Secretary of the Party Committee, Inspector General (and), Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Political and Legal Affairs (and).
On January 4 of this year, officials informed Deng that he was “double-opened” on charges of corruption and bribery and trading in power and sex, as well as “participating in a gang within the Party to make political capital” and “keen political speculation and deludedly discussing the major policies of the Party Central Committee”.
But as usual, the official did not specify the specific “illegal and disciplinary” behavior involved in Deng Cullin. The inside story of Deng’s fall has given rise to much speculation.
Some commentators believe that, because of the relationship with Meng Jianzhu’s office director, Deng Cailin mastered the secrets of Sun Lijun and Meng Jianzhu’s many actions. After the fall of Sun Lijun, Deng Cailin also fell, marking the Xi authorities will adopt the same approach as the arrest of Zhou Yongkang, that is, first arresting Meng Jianzhu’s men who are close to him, and then arresting Meng Jianzhu after getting evidence. Meng’s future is not good and he is in danger.
In addition, the fall of Deng Zuling is another point of interest, as most people are concerned that four of the six public security chiefs have fallen since Chongqing became a municipality directly under the central government, the former being Zhu Mingguo, Wang Lijun and He Ting.
