China sings the praises of its own vaccine, tramples on the West and spreads conspiracy theories

As ten experts from the World health Organization arrive in Wuhan to investigate the origins of the new coronavirus, Chinese official media have been publishing reports for days criticizing Western vaccines and advocating that domestic vaccines are safer and more readily available. Meanwhile, the U.S. intends to rejoin the WHO in the COVAX program, which distributes vaccines to poor countries.

According to the Washington Post and Reuters on Jan. 20, Chinese officials, official media and online opinion have again trumpeted the fact that the new coronavirus did not originate in China, and accused U.S. drug makers Pfizer and BioNTech of developing the new coronavirus vaccine, as well as Moderna, of raising safety concerns. The report says this is “muddying the waters” at a critical Time in the investigation by WHO experts.

Xia Ming, a professor of political science at the City University of New York, told the station that the Chinese Communist authorities are not fighting with the West over the effectiveness of the vaccine, but rather as a stopgap measure to stabilize domestic public sentiment: “The Chinese government is in an awkward scenario where it is fighting against some 200 countries around the world for accountability, so why would it risk diplomatic isolation and a global fight? It feels the security of the polity could really be threatened if it does not instill lies and conspiracy theories in the people and increase the suppressive function of the gun and the lying function of the pen.”

The latest data show that clinical trials of the final phase of the Pfizer vaccine showed the vaccine to be 95 percent effective. China’s Kexing Holdings’ New Crown vaccine was only 50.4 percent effective in late-stage trials in Brazil.

China accuses Western media of downplaying mRNA vaccine deaths

In the past week, Chinese party media Global Times published an article claiming that 23 deaths related to vaccination with U.S. Pfizer and German BioNTech vaccines have occurred in Norway. Several medical experts said that the mRNA vaccine was developed in a hurry, that it should be used with caution by the elderly and infirm, and that Japan should consider the Chinese vaccine.

In addition, the Global Times accused the Western mainstream media of downplaying the death cases and deliberately smearing the Chinese vaccine and promoting the Pfizer vaccine.

Retired Harvard University School of Public Health professor Li Dunhou said to the station that without a controlled study (control study), the Norwegian case cannot prove the superiority of the Chinese vaccine, “If the Chinese vaccine was given to those people in Norway, would it have gone wrong? Because no such thing has been done, so we can’t compare. Norway has its unique situation, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that China will be fine if they go and get it.”

Most of the deaths in Norway have occurred in people over the age of eighty and those with weakened immune systems. Steinar Madsen, a spokesman for the Norwegian Health Authority, said recently that it is difficult to prove a link between vaccines and deaths.

Currently, Chinese vaccines are restricted to people over the age of sixty and to those at high risk with underlying conditions such as High blood pressure and diabetes. Xia Ming believes that China lacks confidence in its own vaccine compared to the U.S., which prioritizes the rollout of vaccines to the elderly and front-line workers.

“The U.S. started with the elderly population first, with Biden, Pelosi, Pence and other elderly people getting the shot. Why should China’s Fosun company spend billions or tens of billions on American vaccines? China itself does not have confidence in its own vaccines, especially when used on the country’s leaders (.)”

China’s top officials spread virus conspiracy theory

In an interview with Xinhua News Agency on Dec. 29, Gao Fu, director of the Chinese CDC, questioned whether the mRNA technology used in Western vaccines, originally designed to treat cancer patients, could have side effects in the future when released to healthy people.

Xiong Lei, the daughter of “Chinese Communist spy king” Xiong Xianghui and vice president of Xinhua’s China Feature Service, questioned “the possibility that SARS could be a genetic weapon against the Chinese” and suggested that Donald Rumsfeld, former U.S. Secretary of Defense and a major shareholder of Gilead, had benefited from the New Crown vaccine in an article titled “From Genetic Warfare to New Crown Virus: A Journalist’s Record and Reflections,” which generated much debate on Chinese social media.

“Whose Family does Ridgeview belong to? It’s still Gilead. One left and one right who have never heard of or experienced a new virus or Epidemic and their family always has a potent drug. How are they so prescient? If there is no foul play here, it’s a living hell.” Xiong Lei wrote.

“It’s also not good for the reputation of the Chinese when the country’s media publishes like this, which is not true.” Li Dunhou pointed out, “Ridciclovir isn’t that effective, and it’s expensive, and it requires injections. How could it be that stupid? If it’s so well prepared, why not prepare an oral drug? That drug also comes from (researching) other viruses.”

U.S. to rejoin WHO, join COVAX

U.S. President Joe Biden signed several decrees on his first day in office, including calling off the process of withdrawing from the World Health Organization and assigning epidemiologist Anthony Fauci to lead a delegation to the WHO meeting.

Fauci said at the 148th WHO Executive Board meeting on Jan. 21 that the United States would maintain its membership in WHO, meet its financial obligations, promote WHO reform and join the New Coronavirus Vaccine Implementation Program (COVAX).

Regarding the investigation into the traceability of the virus, Fauci said, “The international investigation must be robust and clear, and we look forward to evaluating it.”

Duncan Lee said, “With the death of Li Wenliang, making him a ‘meritocracy,’ how many more Li Wenliang’s will there be (in the future)? I hope China will take out (the experiments), unless you did it with malice in mind and are afraid to take it out. If it was an accident, what does it matter if you take it out?”
