House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the House will act immediately to pass a massive Epidemic relief package.
At a news conference Thursday (Jan. 21), the California Democrat said her party will take immediate action to reach a trillion-dollar relief package for the Chinese communist virus (New Coronavirus).
“We are preparing a COVID bailout rescue package,” she told reporters. She was referring to COVID as the outbreak caused by the Chinese Communist virus that emerged in China in 2019. She said, “We will do the work of the …… committee next week so that when we come back, we will be fully prepared to vote on passage.”
Pelosi’s revelations suggest that the epidemic economic stimulus bill could pass and become law in early February. Another House session is scheduled to begin Feb. 1.
Joe Biden, who was sworn in as president, unveiled a nearly $2 trillion epidemic spending measure last week that includes a $1,400 stimulus check, vaccine development programs, increased unemployment benefits and more.
The legislation still needs to be passed by a narrowly bipartisan Senate before Biden can sign it into law. On Wednesday (Jan. 20), Democrats won a slim 50-50 majority in the Senate, as Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris already had a key Senate vote.
Some Republican senators, including Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, have expressed doubts that such a bill would pass.
We just passed a $900 billion-plus bailout,” he told reporters on Wednesday. I wouldn’t expect another plan to be passed in the near future.”
Pelosi did not say at the news conference when the House would send the articles of impeachment against Trump (Trump) to the Senate.
She disagreed with Republicans’ warnings that a second impeachment of Trump would lead to division. She said, “I don’t think that saying, ‘Oh, let’s forget about this and move on is a way to unite.’ That’s not the way to be united.”
