Outgoing U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen attended the inauguration of new President Joe Biden today, instead of going to the ceremony to send off outgoing President Donald Trump. Pence applauded the new vice president, He Jinli, who sent the Pences off after the ceremony.
While Trump did not attend Biden’s inauguration, Mike Pence and his wife Karen showed up and applauded Kamala Harris as she arrived at the ceremony at the Capitol.
The Associated Press reported that after the ceremony, Kamala and her husband, Doug Emhoff, said goodbye to the Pence’s on the steps of the Capitol. The two sides stood and talked for a few minutes, smiling, before the Pence’s got into their car and left.
The new President Biden was supposed to see off outgoing President Trump, but since Trump was not in attendance, he sent Pence off instead.
The Republican Pence was the governor of Indiana. The company’s main business is to provide a wide range of products and services to the public.
Trump supporters broke into Capitol Hill on June 6 after he refused to try to overturn the results of the Electoral College vote that Biden won in the presidential election in Congress.
During Trump’s four-year tenure, Pence was his die-hard deputy, but was snubbed by Trump for failing to support him in overturning the election results, until the two sought to repair their relationship before he left office.
Pence had a phone call with He Jinli on the 14th, which is the highest level of contact between the outgoing Trump Administration and the new Biden Administration.
