Deaths of five elderly people in their 70s in France after receiving the new crown vaccine raise concerns

According to information obtained by French radio station Franceinfo from the French Ministry of health, 139 people in France have suffered serious or unexpected adverse reactions to vaccinations since the start of the new crown vaccination campaign on December 27, and five other elderly people have died. The news has sparked unease in public opinion. However, it is difficult to ascertain that the cause of death of these five elderly people was indeed related to the Pfizer New Crown vaccine.

The French Ministry of Health stressed that the five elderly people were all over 75 years old and had underlying medical conditions.

So far, official statistics from European countries show that a total of 71 deaths have been recorded since the start of the vaccination (excluding France). Almost all of the deaths were in people over 75 years old. The news immediately went viral on the Internet.

But are these deaths really related to the vaccine? The French newspaper Le Monde pointed out in a fact-checking article on the 18th that it is difficult to prove that the deaths are vaccine-related, and that deaths occurring after vaccination may not necessarily be caused by the vaccine. And since the preferred target of the mass vaccination campaign in France is the high-risk, high-mortality population over the age of 75 who are susceptible to severe neocoronavirus infection, the likelihood of this occurring increases accordingly.

There are currently 33 post-vaccination deaths in Norway. The Le Monde article noted that the Norwegian drug regulator conducted an in-depth assessment of 13 of these cases and concluded that in these cases the expected adverse effects of the Pfizer vaccine, such as fever and nausea, may have hastened the deaths of some frail individuals. The Norwegian drug regulator reported that the patients in these 13 deaths were all over 80 years old, and some were even in their 90s. They had all previously had heart or lung disease. It is not possible at this stage to determine whether the new crown vaccine was the direct cause of their deaths.

As for the social media platform Twitter, a source even said that 50 people had died from the New Crown vaccine in the French Alpes-Maritimes. This fact-checking article in Le Monde clearly states that this is a pure distortion of the facts. The tweet in question said that the information came from the Nice Morning News on January 17, but in fact the Nice Morning News article said that 50 people had died from Neocoronella in the Ehpad nursing home.

Twitter also reported that Mauricette, 78, the first elderly person in France to receive the vaccine, had died after receiving it. But there was no trace of the story a few days later. Mauricette herself received a second dose of the vaccine on Jan. 19, as scheduled.

A nurse in the United States collapsed on the spot while receiving the vaccine on Dec. 17. The video went viral on the Internet and became supposed evidence for those who thought the new vaccine could not be trusted. But the nurse actually appeared on local television the next day to clarify that she often experiences such fainting conditions because she is overly sensitive to pain. But the video of her fainting on the day of the vaccination did not stop spreading on the Internet.
