12 miners a paper reported safe Shandong gold mine rescue continues

The rescue of the gold mine collapse in Wushan, Shandong Province, China, continues, with trapped miners explaining the situation inside the mine to rescuers by note on the evening of the 17th. 12 of them are now confirmed safe but in poor health. Another 10 people are still missing.

Xinhua reported that the note from the stranded miner gave a general description of the current situation of the 22 people underground, 12 of whom are confirmed to be alive and four of whom are injured. The other 10 people are not in the same location as the trapped miner, so the situation cannot be confirmed.

The note reads, “Now everyone is seriously physically overdrawn, in urgent need of stomach medicine, painkillers, medical tape, topical anti-inflammatory drugs, another three people have High blood pressure, in urgent need of antihypertensive drugs, I have two kinds in the car, please bring the drugs down.”

It is reported, Shandong Qixia City Wushan gold mine explosion occurred at 2 pm on the 10th, 22 miners were trapped in the mine shaft more than 600 meters below the location. But because of the delayed notification plus the mine is blocked, rescue progress is slow, miners trapped so far has been a week, is considered a slim chance of survival.

The mining company was late in reporting the explosion at the Wushan gold mine for 30 hours after it occurred on the afternoon of the 10th. Qixia Municipal Party Committee Secretary Yao Xiuxia and Qixia Mayor Zhu Tao were removed from their posts as a result.
