Magic spell? All U.S. presidents elected in the year Gengzi died in office

The year 2020 is the year of Gengzi in the Chinese yellow calendar, and is also the year of the U.S. presidential election. Some careful netizens found that all U.S. presidents elected in the year of Gengzi died during their terms of office, known as the “Gengzi Curse”. The topic has been widely debated.

The Chinese yellow calendar chronology is a combination of heavenly stems and earthly branches, which originated from the observation of celestial phenomena in ancient China, and is also the ancient Chinese method of recording the year, month, day and time. The heavenly stems are ten, namely “A, B, C, D, E, F, G, X, N, and J”, and the earthly branches are twelve, namely “Zi, Ugly, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, and Hai”. The combination of the two is a cycle of sixty years. The year Gengzi is one of them, and the order is 37th.

As we all know, the Gengzi years in history were not peaceful, such as: the First Opium War in 1840; the Boxer Rebellion and the invasion of China by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900; the famine in India in the same year, in which millions of people died of starvation; the three-year famine created by the Chinese Communist Party in 1960, in which tens of millions of people died of starvation, and the record-breaking 9.5 magnitude earthquake in Chile in the same year; the Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) in 2020, which ravaged worldwide, and so on.

Since the founding of the United States, there have been four Gengzi years, and they were all years of presidential elections. Like a demonic curse, the first three U.S. presidents elected in Gengzi years all died in office.

The first Gengzi year after the founding of the United States was 1840. William Henry Harrison was elected as the 9th President of the United States. He contracted pneumonia from a wind chill during the inauguration and died of the disease only a month after his inauguration.

The second Gung Ho year was 1900. William McKinley was elected for his second term in office, but he was assassinated in 1901.

The third gentrification year was 1960. John F. Kennedy was elected the 35th president of the United States and was assassinated in 1963.

The fourth Gung Ho year is 2020, when Democratic candidate Joe Biden was accused of fraud in the election, stealing a large number of votes from Republican candidate and incumbent President Trump, but was certified by Congress as the 46th president.

This time, the “gung-ho curse” will be fulfilled, then caused a lively debate among netizens.

On the eve of the presidential inauguration, several Twitter users tweeted, “All U.S. presidents elected in the year of Gengzi died in office, this is not made up, this is a fact that has happened.” Some netizens jokingly said that Biden is fighting the “Gengzi curse” for Trump.

Some netizens also said that the United States also has a “Harrison’s Curse”, but has been broken.

According to the article “Analysis of the U.S. election results from feng shui and history”, the so-called “Harrison’s Curse” is that Harrison, who was a general, had slaughtered the Indians and made a big Indian chief into a human skin pocket. The Indians then cast a spell on Harrison, cursing him to die in office, and that all U.S. presidents elected in years ending in zero after him would die in office. The spell was fulfilled from 1840 to 1960, one every 20 years, seven in all (including the three presidents who died in the year Gengzi), but President Ronald Reagan broke the spell.

Reagan, who was elected president in 1980, survived being shot in 1981, with the bullet just a hair’s breadth away from his heart, and George Bush Jr, who was elected president in 2000, did not die in office, but was in office during the 9/11 national tragedy that shocked the world.

The “Harrison Curse” and the “Gengzi Curse” are both years with a zero at the end, and the following table shows what happened to the U.S. presidents who served in these years.

Harrison, who was elected president of the United States in 1840, fell ill after a cold and passed away.

Abraham Lincoln, elected President of the United States in 1860, was assassinated.

Garfield, elected President of the United States in 1880, was assassinated within six months of taking office and died two months later.

McKinley, elected President of the United States in 1900, was assassinated while attending the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo.

Harding, elected President of the United States in 1920, was poisoned with arsenic when his internal secrets were revealed.

Roosevelt, elected President of the United States in 1940, was slightly better, but eventually died in office.

John F. Kennedy, elected President of the United States in 1960, was assassinated.

Reagan, elected President of the United States in 1980, was assassinated less than three months into his term.

Bush Jr. was not assassinated in 2000, but the United States had a national tragedy on 9/11.

Although the “Harrison Curse” has been broken, but will the “Gengzi Curse” be fulfilled in 2020? Remains to be seen.
