The number of people infected with Chinese Communist pneumonia (COVID) in Hebei province has been rising in recent days, making it the hardest hit area of the current outbreak of the virus in mainland China. Outsiders found that the epidemic data released by the province’s vice governor recently was inconsistent with the data reported by the Hebei Provincial health Commission, indicating that Communist Party officials are still covering up the real situation of the epidemic.
In the afternoon of Jan. 16, local time, a vice governor of Hebei Province said at an official press conference on the epidemic that as of Jan. 14, the second round of nucleic acid tests in Shijiazhuang had been completed, with 247 positive cases found, compared to 354 positive cases in the first round of nucleic acid tests conducted in the city a week earlier.
However, the epidemic statistics released by the Hebei Provincial Health and Wellness Commission showed that in the 24 hours of January 14, 90 new confirmed cases were found in the province, including 84 in Shijiazhuang; and 9 new asymptomatic infections were found locally in the province, including 5 in Shijiazhuang. In other words, the number of infected people in Shijiazhuang on the 14th totaled only 89 cases in the data released by the provincial Health and Construction Commission.
In response, Voice of Hope International Radio reported that the data reported by the Health and Welfare Commission apparently did not include the hundreds of positive cases found in the second round of nucleic acid tests in Shijiazhuang, and that the data released by Hebei’s vice governor “fought” with the data released by the provincial Health and Welfare Commission, indicating that the authorities are suspected of concealing the outbreak.
The newspaper quoted Chinese netizens as saying that the following set of data also shows that there is something fishy in Hebei’s official notification of the epidemic: the number of confirmed cases announced by the local authorities soared to 82 on January 10, plummeted to 40 on the 11th, then surged to 90 on the 12th, 81 on the 13th, 90 again on the 14th, and 90 three times on the 15th.
And official data from Hebei on the 17th showed that from 0 to 24 hours on January 16, there were 92 new cases of local infection in Hebei Province, including 72 confirmed cases and 20 asymptomatic infections.
Many Chinese netizens have questioned the official figures of the epidemic announced by Hebei Province.
Under the CCTV report, a netizen commented: “How come Hebei reports 90 cases every day, is it a coincidence? Or are they afraid to report more than 90 per day?” The number of the next few days has been arranged for you in advance.”
