U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), the ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued a statement Jan. 15 after the U.S. federal government’s Office of Management and Budget released the first-ever data on all China-related spending within the U.S. government.
The statement said, “We must work to stop the use of American taxpayer dollars to support the Communist dictatorship in China, which is why I sent a letter to the Trump administration two years ago asking them to collect data on U.S. government spending related to China. I am pleased that the Office of Management and Budget has followed my advice and released data that is critical to stopping financial support for this oppressive regime.”
