U.S. media outlet “Breitbart News Network” reported on Jan. 15 that on Friday’s “Ingraham Angle” on Fox News Channel, Republican Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that there was not enough security during the Jan. 6 There wasn’t enough security during the Capitol storming, “and now Washington is becoming a military zone.” Paul also said that we must “resist” the rapid loss of civil liberties during the crisis.
The government either underreacted or overreacted,” Senator Paul said, adding that on January 6 it was clear that security was inadequate, but now Washington is becoming a military zone. It’s also ridiculous that members of Congress have to be checked to see if they are carrying sharp pencils or pens when they enter Washington. Let’s see how the situation will change in the future and see if it’s always like this. In times of war, stress or crisis, people lose their civil liberties very quickly, but it’s very difficult to get them back, and once the government has the power, it doesn’t want it back. So we have to resist the loss of freedom. I regret what happened on Jan. 6, but the military deployment this week, I think, smacks of an overreaction.”
