Pompeo’s intensive tweet: 4 years of change in the Trump administration

Secretary of State Pompeo: When the Chinese Communist Party shamefully violated the United Nations-registered Sino-British Joint Declaration treaty granting the people of Hong Kong a high degree of autonomy, the Trump administration revoked Hong Kong’s special trade status and sanctioned the Chinese Communist Party and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region officials.

The Chinese Communist Party has broken its promise to the people of Hong Kong. We make those who deny these great people their freedom pay a real price.

The Chinese Communist Party lies and makes empty promises. If we want to change its bad behavior, we must recognize this mode of operation and the consequences of sanctioning it. Appeasement and dialogue for the sake of “dialogue” alone will not work.

The Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese people are not the same. We support the Chinese people’s desire to rid themselves of the Communist dictatorship. I made this clear in my speech at the Nixon Library. (with a link to the speech https://go.usa.gov/xAQMk )

The Trump administration has ended a decades-long policy of appeasement and misguided engagement with the Chinese Communist Party. We can no longer ignore the political and ideological divide between the United States and the Communist Chinese state, between freedom and tyranny.

The Chinese Communist Party is a threat. The Chinese people are not. For 50 years, the United States has succumbed to the Chinese Communist Party. This is no longer true during the Trump administration.

Our Framers understood that a nation thrives when individuals are able to exercise their religious freedom. The government should protect that right, not spread a religious ideology. On National Religious Freedom Day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting this universal right.

U.S. Department of State: “We need leaders of all religious faiths to condemn violations of religious freedom, whenever and wherever they occur.”

Today, I significantly expanded metal-related sanctions against Iran’s nuclear, military and ballistic missile programs. As long as the threat remains, so should the sanctions.

We turned the page. We put U.S. foreign policy toward the Chinese Communist Party in a new direction.

Religious freedom is our primary freedom.

Americans are the most generous people on the planet, hands down, and we always will be.

The Trump Administration has led the global response to the new coronavirus pneumonia using foreign aid money.
The State Department @StateDept and USAID @USAID alone have provided $1.6 billion in emergency health, humanitarian, economic and development assistance to more than 120 countries to fight the epidemic.

The U.S. is a world leader in the fight against the new coronavirus. $20.5 billion has been used to fund vaccine development, treatment and diagnosis, disaster preparedness efforts and foreign assistance. Not to mention U.S. private corporate donations, non-governmental organizations, and faith-based organizations. This is an all-American #AllOfAmerica effort.

Make a commitment, keep a promise: Our top priority is to help Americans overseas. From Machu Picchu to the Himalayas, from the Amazon to the Gobi Desert, as we support our partners around the world, we take care of our people. Not Tired of Winning #NotTiredOfWinning

Wuhan is where COVID-19 began: the entire city was completely shut down. No one was allowed in or out. Our State Department Bureau of Diplomatic Security @StateDeptDSS team worked 24/7 continuously to evacuate 800 Americans in 72 hours and bring State Department @StateDept employees home safely.

There was no hesitation. When the State Department @StateDept chief doctor said we needed to fly to Wuhan to rescue Americans, our managing director said, “Then why are you still standing here?” The plane took off a few hours later.
(Photo caption: Pompeo: “The American people deserve to know that we always put their safety first.”)

Americans were stranded in hundreds of places around the world when the COVID-19 pandemic caused travel disruptions around the world. The State Department @StateDept’s emergency airlift operation brought more than 100,000 Americans home in 135 days-an unprecedented number.

When locusts broke out on crops in East Africa in the worst infestation in decades, the U.S. donated $25 million to help prevent famine in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda. Because that’s what the U.S. does. (Retweeted by USAID, the U.S. aid agency: listing facts about aid)

We provided life-saving medical and food aid to the Lebanese people when horrific bombings devastated large parts of Beirut. Because that’s what the U.S. always does.

When Venezuelans fled Maduro’s criminal gangs, we were there, providing more than $1 billion in humanitarian aid, including food, medicine and other emergency aid, for this regional crisis. Because that’s what the United States does all the time.

Over the past two decades, the United States has deployed more than $140 billion in global health assistance, and more than $70 billion in humanitarian assistance in the past decade alone. Not to mention the contributions of faith-based groups, non-governmental organizations and ordinary citizens. The Magical United States

The United States is the largest single donor of humanitarian aid in the world. Every country has a responsibility to help. Together, we can ensure that the world’s most vulnerable people receive vital assistance.
There is no more generous country on the planet than the United States of America.

America First! America first!

You can tell a lot about a country by its friends. We embrace the only country in the Middle East that respects democracy, the rule of law, human rights and freedom. It will always be that way.

Beliefs matter. History matters. Democracy matters. Thank you Netanyahu @PMNetanyahu for all the things you do to defend freedom and religious liberty in your country and region. You’re a great, great friend.

We have suspended funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, which is rife with waste, fraud and concerns about supporting terrorism. It is not a refugee agency; it is estimated that fewer than 200,000 of those Arabs displaced in 1948 are still alive, and most other Arabs are not refugees by any reasonable standard. [Attachment: Statement on U.S. Funding of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees
Taxpayers deserve the basic truth: the majority of Palestinians under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees are not refugees, and it is an obstacle to peace. The United States supports peace and the human rights of the Palestinian people; the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees supports neither. It’s time to end the UN agency for Palestinian refugees’ mandate.

Another historic first: In December 2019, President Trump expanded Section 6 of the Civil Rights Act to protect Jewish-American students, who face increasing harassment in schools and on college campuses.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement is a manifestation of anti-Semitism.
Anti-Zionism is a form of anti-Semitism.

In 2020, the State Department launched a new catalog that allows products from Judea and Samaria under Israeli sovereignty to be labeled “Made in Israel. More Common Sense Leadership

We recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
We allow U.S. citizens born in Jerusalem to choose “Israel” or “Jerusalem” as their place of birth on their passports.

More common sense: In 2018 the State Department designated Hamas Politburo leader Ismail Haniya as a terrorist. Because he is.

The foreign policy elite predicted the world would end if we moved our embassy to Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people and of Israel since its founding. We did it anyway. There were no three world wars. The sky didn’t fall either.

We declared that the Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria were not in themselves a violation of international law. This is the same legal interpretation as the Reagan administration. It is important to restore American policy to sanity and balance.

America is a place of many freedoms, and having freedoms makes us the best country in the world. Even after I leave office, I will do everything in my power to ensure those freedoms. Follow me on my personal Twitter account

America has no better friend than Israel and the Israeli people.

No administration has done more than we have with Israel, the most vibrant and tolerant democracy in the Middle East.

The recipe for peace in the Middle East is clear. Support friends and true partners, confront enemies, reject appeasement, and aid those in need. Widen the space for peace under the US umbrella. #LeadingFromTheFront (Photo of President Trump with Middle Eastern leaders “We have opened the dawn of a new Middle East”)

The Trump administration stands with the people of Lebanon as they reject Iran’s terrorists, Hezbollah. More than just words: State Department @StateDept designates former Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil for corrupt activities. (With related State Department announcement)

(This is) when I joined the government for my first meeting with Iraqi PM @MAKadhimi. We worked with him to take back and protect Iraqi sovereignty. Good progress, especially in defeating ISIS (Islamic State), but Iran is still a threat. Efforts must continue.

Our eyes will never leave Yemen. [Photo caption: Exposed Iranian arms sales to support terrorist groups; worked with the Office of the Special Envoy to Yemen to support peace; gave more than $2.5 billion in humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people]

We helped create the International Maritime Security Organization and Joint Task Force #CTFSentinel to protect the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf Strait from Iran’s illegal actions. Started with 7 partners; now up to 14. EffectiveMultilateralism #EffectiveMultilateralism Thanks to Bahrain, UK, Albania, Lithuania, Australia, UAE and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for protecting the world’s Strait of Hormuz – one of the most important transportation routes from Iran’s (illegal acts). Pirates in the Strait of Hormuz #PiratesOfHormuz

The extreme pressure #MaximumPressure campaign extends far beyond Iran. From Afghanistan to Yemen, we’ve fought Tehran’s evil influence throughout the region.
(Photo caption: Pompeo: “We will continue to pursue accountability for the evil acts of the Islamic State (ISIS), wherever they are.”]

In 2019, we removed ISIS terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and al-Qaeda terrorist Hamza bin Laden. U.S. leadership + global coalition = eliminating the bad guys. That’s effective multilateral alliance #EffectiveMultilateralism

Under my guidance the U.S. State Department @StateDept convened a global coalition of 83 nations to defeat Daesh (Islamic Republic of Iran i.e. ISIS). Leading from the Front #LeadingFromTheFront

Censorship, awakening movements (to inequality, racism, etc.), political correctness, all point in one direction: authoritarianism in the guise of benevolence and morality. This is not what we as Americans identify with. It’s time to put the woke-ism movement to rest (sleep).

The normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, the first such agreement since 1994, was the biggest step toward peace in a generation.

We quickly flipped the script. For decades, foreign policy “experts” claimed that we must first make peace between Israel and the Palestinians before we could get a peace agreement in the region. We’ve proven them all wrong.
