13 elderly people die in Norway after receiving new crown vaccine Authorities revise vaccination recommendations

Norway Today reports that the Norwegian Medicines Agency said that 13 elderly people have died after receiving the new Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine, and that the Norwegian Medicines Agency and the National Institute of Public health are working together to assess the side effects of the Pfizer vaccine. In addition, the authorities also said that the vaccination campaign is continuing and that the vaccine is so far the only treatment for the coronavirus.

According to Norway Today, there have been 23 deaths after the new coronavirus vaccine since the vaccination campaign in Norwegian homes for the elderly. To date, 13 cases have been verified. The Norwegian Medicines Agency and the National Institute of Public Health are jointly reviewing the death reports, while the Norwegian National Institute of Public Health has updated the guidelines for vaccination with the New Coronavirus vaccine, providing new requirements and recommendations for the New Coronavirus vaccine in frail elderly people.

Sigurd Hortemo, chief physician at the Norwegian Medicines Agency, noted that the report suggests that common side effects of the mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) vaccine (e.g., fever, nausea, etc.) may have contributed to the deaths of the frail elderly. The risks of the vaccine are very small and only in a few cases, especially for those elderly with poor health, could the side effects cause the elderly to become sicker, Sigurd said during a webinar on the new crown vaccine on the 14th. “If you are frail, you should not get the New Crown vaccine.”

Steinar Madsen, a spokesman for the Norwegian Medicines Agency, said, “We are neither alarmed nor concerned because these cases are rare and occur in very vulnerable patients with very serious illnesses.”
