Radio Free Asia quoted a Shanghai traveler passing through Hong Kong, Dai Lanfang, as saying that a number of senior executives of a Shanghai airline company suffered from dizziness, drowsiness and loss of normal mobility after receiving the Kexing vaccine on the 11th of this month.
Dai Lanfang said the airline’s entire civilian staff had been vaccinated and “everyone collapsed. The symptoms are headache and drowsiness and other reactions have come out, (13) afternoon has been a little better, the evening again not, the office has been seven fallen eight, have been very affected by work. They were given the Kexing vaccine. They had the first shot on the 11th, and they still had some problems until yesterday, but today they should all be fine, I heard. They had the second shot on January 26.”
The report quoted Huang Ping, a Shandong businessman who has been concerned about China’s problematic vaccines for years, as pointing out that regarding the quality of domestic vaccines, Zhang Wenhong, director of the infection department at Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University in Shanghai, had said, “It’s the difference between domestic and imported cars …… not to mention (the U.S.) Pfizer vaccine also has some side effects, just the side effects of China’s domestic vaccines very much, said there are more than 70 kinds.”
While the quality of Chinese vaccines is in doubt, the Chinese official media continues to sing its praises. Xinhua News Agency published a commentary saying that the DPP on the other side of the Taiwan Strait “threw dirty water on Chinese vaccines to highlight the evil of human nature”. The free universal vaccination program in China also includes Taiwanese, and the Taiwanese authorities have warned Taiwanese to “pay attention to the risks of vaccines on the mainland”.
According to Xinhua’s editorial, data show that the effectiveness of vaccine protection on the mainland has met the requirements of relevant WHO standards, and that the number of vaccinations has exceeded 10 million doses since the implementation of vaccination for key populations on Dec. 15, 2020. Some have reached procurement agreements.
According to earlier reports, the effectiveness of the Kexing vaccine in late stage trials in Brazil was reduced to 50.4%, much lower than the earlier results and only just meeting the WHO’s minimum standard of 50%. As for the Chinese national vaccine, it was pointed out earlier by Tao Lina of the Shanghai Center for Disease Prevention that the manual listed 73 side effects, making it the world’s least safe vaccine, although he later said on Weibo, “That must be a mistake in the manual,” once sparking a hot debate.
