Democrats took advantage of a temporary rule change passed earlier this week to repeatedly call Trump a racist during the House impeachment debate Wednesday, said a Jan. 13 news release from Breitbart News.
Rep. Cori Bush (R-Ariz.), who was just sworn in, referred to Trump as a “white supremacist,” and the black congresswoman said in her House speech, “The 117th Congress has the power to legislate to defend black lives. The first step in this process begins with the impeachment of the chief white supremacist and the eradication of white supremacy.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who represents Michigan, was not far behind, calling Trump “the chief racist.
Under normal circumstances, House rules prohibit the use of such terms, but House Democrats on Tuesday passed a temporary rule change that applies specifically to the debate urging Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, as well as to the debate on President Trump’s impeachment.
Congressional sources informed Breitbart News that the rule change expires at the end of this month and no longer applies.
