The visit was very sensitive for the Chinese regime, with the authorities in Beijing eager to rule out any responsibility for the outbreak that has killed nearly 2 million people worldwide. The WHO team of experts’ visit to China is expected to last five to six weeks. Fabian Leendertz, a member of the German Robert Koch Institute, told AFP that the team would explore “all avenues” but would not seek to identify the culprit.
