According to a number of Chinese media reports, the 9th Annual China Chief Economist Forum 2021 was held in Shanghai from January 9 to 10, and former Hua’an Fund Chief Economist Lin Caiyi attended the meeting and gave a speech.
When talking about the issue of “internal circulation”, Lin said, “Internal circulation is not a source of water, internal circulation is the necessary path for China’s economic development. As I said two years ago, we should spend all our money to fight for the glory of our country. Patriotism how to love it? Very simple, spend money is the best way to patriotism. As long as consumption can grow strongly, China’s economy will have a constant flow of power in the future”.
Talking about the recent “consumption downgrade” that has been widely discussed, Lin said she does not agree with this view.
She said, “In the past, white-collar workers and even gold-collar workers loved to buy big brands such as Hermes and Louis Vuitton, because they felt they could afford to go out and look good. But now, Lujiazui white-collar workers have turned to like to consume trendy brands, they now also instead feel that the first two brands are old-fashioned and not hip enough.
