He Jinli: Biden to Issue Green Cards to TPS and DACA Holders

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris speaks in Georgia on Jan. 3, 2021.

The Biden administration will offer green cards to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or DACA holders when it takes office next week, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said Tuesday (Jan. 12).

He told Univision that the incoming administration plans to introduce an immigration reform bill that would automatically issue green cards to TPS and DACA holders.

DACA holders are illegal immigrants who entered the United States illegally with their parents at a young age.

Biden’s upcoming program would include a pathway to citizenship for millions of people living in the United States illegally.

According to Univision, He said it “creates a pathway to citizenship for most of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States by first making them legal permanent residents, a status they can obtain within eight years.

According to Politico, He said the Biden administration will work to simplify the path to citizenship from 13 years to eight years.

He also vowed to “expand protections for DACA recipients” and said the administration “will ensure that people receive the vaccine [for the Chinese Communist virus], regardless of their immigration status.

The plan also proposes to add more immigration judges to ease the backlog of illegal immigration cases at the border, the paper said.

The Biden administration would also end some of the Trump administration’s (R) controversial immigration policies, He Jinli told Univision.

Politico reports that a group of immigration activists plan to meet with faith leaders in Delaware on Wednesday and demand a meeting with Biden to make sure he makes good on his campaign promise to take action to protect illegal immigrant families as soon as he takes office next week.
