On January 13, the Fucheng neighborhood in Yanjiao, Langfang, Hebei Province, was suddenly closed without any prior notice, sparking anger among residents. Hundreds of residents flocked to the closed barricade to confront the police and demand an explanation from the police, but were met with brutal treatment. Others intended to take a detour from other roads, but were prevented from doing so.
According to official media reports, 90 new cases were confirmed in Hebei province between 0 and 24 hours on January 12, with 84 cases reported in Shijiazhuang and 6 in Xingtai. There were also 15 new cases of asymptomatic infection, including 14 cases reported in Shijiazhuang and one in Xingtai.
The Chinese Communist Party has always concealed the epidemic, so the actual situation in Hebei is likely to be much more serious.
According to local media in Langfang, on January 13, the second day of home quarantine in Langfang, Hebei, neighborhoods were closed to reduce the movement of people. The temporary closure was implemented from the afternoon of Jan. 12. Residents can only buy vegetables and food from the stores in the area.
Yanjiao, Langfang Sanhe City, Hebei Province, is close to Songzhuang, Beijing, and although it is a household of Hebei, it seems to have become one with Beijing, only a 30-minute drive from downtown Beijing, and even closer than Beijing’s Shunyi District. Most of the residents commute to Beijing every day to go to work.
A video posted by netizens shows the Yanjiao Fucheng district being blocked off from entry and exit. Hundreds of people gathered in front of the barrier at the intersection and confronted the police, asking why this was happening. The police brusquely replied, “There is no reason, it’s just the rules.” Other people tried to go around to another road to Beijing on foot, but were stopped by the police.
