Japan emergency declaration increased to 11 prefectures

The Japanese government has basically decided on the 12th that it will issue another emergency declaration to Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo Kansai 3 prefectures and Aichi, Gifu, Fukuoka and Tochigi prefectures on the 13th based on the “New Influenza and Other Special Measures Act”. Together with the 4 prefectures in the metropolitan area that issued the declaration on the 7th, there are 11 prefectures in Japan with emergency declarations, and the duration will be set until February 7th, and will soon be extended to the whole country.

Currently, the epidemic is spreading rapidly throughout Japan, with 4,914 new infections nationwide on the 5th, 6,001 on the 6th, a new record high of 6,000, 7,570 on the 7th, 7,882 on the 8th, 6,113 on the 9th, 6,081 on the 10th, 4,876 on the 11th, and 4,539 on the 12th.

By the 13th, the cumulative number of infected people in Japan exceeded 300,000, and more than 200,000 in late December last year, an increase of more than 100,000 people in just 3 weeks.

Minister of health, Labour and Welfare Kenjiu Tamura said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting on the 12th, the 13th will be held in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to advise the new crown countermeasures of expert organizations meeting, “based on the experts to analyze and assess the epidemic, the final judgment will be made on which areas as a declaration of emergency or not as such.”

Due to the sharp increase in the number of patients, more than a dozen prefectures, including the metropolitan and Kansai regions, where the New Crown outbreak is spreading rapidly, have seen a sharp increase in the number of people waiting at home without finalizing their admission to hospitals and residential care facilities even if they are confirmed positive. This is mainly due to a shortage of beds in medical institutions and residential and nursing facilities. More than 7,000 people in Tokyo are being coordinated and have to wait at home.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga held a press conference from 19:00 on the 13th to explain the increase in the number of areas where emergency situations are being implemented.
