Hebei province has become a hotspot for the Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) outbreak in China, with another 40 confirmed local cases yesterday, 39 of which came from the provincial capital Shijiazhuang and one from Langfang. Authorities announced a region-wide closure of Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and Langfang, and stricter measures to seal off high-risk areas in the three cities.
The authorities of Hebei province announced at a press conference held this afternoon (12) to prevent the export of the epidemic that the entire areas of Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and Langfang are under closed management and that people and vehicles will not go out unless necessary, while the high-risk areas of the three cities are under stricter lockdown measures.
Hebei yesterday added 40 local confirmed cases, 39 of which came from the provincial capital Shijiazhuang and one from Langfang. 16 more cases were added in Shijiazhuang this morning, and 5 more in Xingtai. Since January 2, Hebei Province has found 326 local confirmed cases and 234 local asymptomatic infections, showing the rapid spread of the epidemic.
