A truck driver in Baoding, Hebei, was recently refused by a staff member at a gas station in Korla, Xinjiang, on the grounds of “community epidemic prevention requirements,” and the two sides had a dispute.
The driver later cited his name and posted a clip of the incident, which sparked a heated debate on the Internet. The local epidemic prevention command responded afterwards, stressing that there was never a rule against fueling Hebei vehicles.
The driver took out his cell phone to film a conversation with a gas station employee during the incident. He asked who stipulated that he could not refuel, while the female employee responded that it was a community epidemic prevention requirement. The driver explained that he came from Hebei Baoding, took out his ID card to help the other side, but also recorded at the same time: “I’m in Sinopec ah, Xinjiang’s Kullu, do not give me gas.”
The woman took out her cell phone and softened her tone, saying, “Well, can I call the master?” The driver said he could, but then recorded the video saying, “See, not to our Hebei car refueling!” The female employee then asked to stop filming, the driver retorted, “Why can’t I film! You call this discrimination, you know!” The female employee shot back: “Then you also call this an infringement of my privacy!” Then she left and said she was going to her boss.
