Community platform blocking Trump Rubio: stifling freedom of speech has fallen into the Chinese laughing stock

The New York Post reported on October 10 that Republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) criticized the blocking of Twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts of President Trump and his supporters in the wake of the riots at the Capitol as the use of “monopoly power” by large technology companies to silence the voices of the right, a practice that stifles free speech and has become a laughingstock in China.

Rubio said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” program on the 10th that four to five companies in the United States have monopoly power, and they can decide who to drive away and remove from the digital platform without the election process and without being held accountable, which gives leftists the opportunity to pressure them to remove not only the president but also everyone else.

Facebook has announced that it has decided to block Trump’s account indefinitely to prevent him from continuing to incite his supporters, and Twitter has permanently removed Trump’s private account, which has more than 88 million followers. The emerging social media platform Parler has also been jointly blocked by Google, Apple and Amazon.

Rubio said that these social media companies blocked Trump and his supporters in order to please elected leftist officials, “Facebook and Twitter are not moral, they are just doing it because the Democrats are about to take power and they think it will prevent the Democrats from passing laws or restrictions that are harmful to them in the future.”

Rubio co-sponsored a bill last year that would allow people to sue online platforms that selectively censor political commentary, such as Facebook, Google and Twitter.
