Pompeo strikes hard to implement Trump’s foreign policy against Communist China

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement on the afternoon of January 9 announcing that all guidelines on Taiwan relations previously authorized by the U.S. Department of State to be issued by the Secretary of State are null and void.

At a sensitive moment when Congress certified Biden’s election victory, Secretary of State Pompeo came out swinging, announcing the removal of self-imposed restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan and the restoration of normal state-to-state relations with the Republic of China on Taiwan. Commentators point out that Pompeo’s heavy-handed move, which implements Trump‘s foreign policy toward Taiwan and the Chinese Communist Party, sets the policy tone for future U.S. relations with Taiwan and the Chinese Communist Party, and that even if Biden were in the White House, he would not be able to change this U.S. state policy, which has become a fact, and is a fatal blow to the Chinese Communist Party.

Lifting self-imposed restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan

Pompeo on Saturday (Jan. 9) announced the abolition of self-imposed restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan that were imposed decades ago to compromise with the Chinese Communist Party. He said, “The U.S. government took these (restrictions) unilaterally to appease the communist regime in Beijing. We don’t do that anymore.”

Pompeo said, “Today, I am announcing the removal of all these self-imposed restrictions. U.S. executive branch agencies should consider the State Department’s previous “engagement guidance” on relations with Taiwan, issued under the authority of the Secretary of State, to be null and void.”

In his statement, Pompeo noted, “The U.S. government maintains mutual engagement with unofficial partners around the world, and Taiwan is no exception. Our two democracies share common values of respect for individual liberty, legal norms, and human dignity. Today’s statement formally recognizes that the U.S.-Taiwan relationship does not need to be, and should not be, bound by the self-imposed limits of our long-standing bureaucracy.” He said that under the provisions of the Taiwan Relations Act, all future U.S. executive branch relations with Taiwan will be handled by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), a nonprofit agency.

Putting Trump’s Foreign Policy into Practice Deadly Blow to CCP

Commenting on Pompeo’s statement, veteran current affairs commentator Shi Tao pointed out that the AIT is equivalent to the U.S. Embassy in Taiwan. Pompeo’s move is a disguised veto of the three U.S.-China joint communiqués.

According to Shi Tao, Pompeo’s statement is the U.S. national policy toward the Chinese Communist Party and Taiwan, meaning that the U.S. and Taiwan have resumed normal state-to-state relations during Xi Jinping‘s tenure. Even if Biden does get sworn in that day, he can’t deny this national policy, he has to be anti-CCP even if he is acting.

Shi Tao stressed that Pompeo is now coming up with a statement to lift the restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan, which is a policy negotiated and settled with Trump; otherwise, Pompeo would not dare to do so. This shows that Trump has the same philosophy on U.S.-China relations and Taiwan issue from the beginning to the end: respect for people and respect for commitments. He also noted that Pompeo’s heavy-handedness “would have made Biden mad” and was a fatal blow to Xi Jinping.

Setting the tone for the next administration’s policy toward Taiwan

Mr. Lan Shu, a current affairs commentator, said that people are concerned about whether the U.S.-Taiwan relationship will change after Congress found a victory for Biden on Jan. 6. At this juncture, Pompeo’s statement is significant at a time when the old and new administrations are making a transition in various aspects. He believes that even with Biden in the White House, it will be difficult for him to change this already set tone of Trump’s foreign policy toward Taiwan and the Chinese Communist Party. There is no possibility that Biden will bring back the relations he has already drawn closer to Taiwan.

Of particular interest is the fact that Pompeo’s announcement of lifting the self-imposed restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan comes immediately after the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is visiting Taiwan next week. This has very significant symbolic meaning. Taiwan does not have a seat at the UN, but the US sends its ambassador to the UN to visit Taiwan. Pompeo is doing all that the Trump administration plans to do in his second term before the transition of power.

Some netizens chortled that it seems that Pompeo is either doing in advance what the Trump administration is going to do in the second term, or he is drawing the box for the subsequent administration in terms of foreign policy towards Taiwan and the Chinese Communist Party.

Ms. Chen Weiyu, a well-known Canadian spinmeister, said that Pompeo seized the best time to issue a statement on lifting self-imposed restrictions on relations with Taiwan, and that the Chinese Communist Party had no choice but to hold its tongue at this point because it did not dare to declare war at this time, and they were impatient for Biden to enter the White House quickly.

There are also reports that Pompeo is likely to visit Taiwan.

Pompeo’s big move changes the battlefield situation in China and the United States

Current affairs commentator Fang Wei said that after the establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States, the Chinese Communist Party has been deliberately and step by step to compress Taiwan’s diplomatic space and fully penetrate the United States, and it can be said that the Chinese Communist Party has won. But Pompeo’s big move has instantly changed the battlefield of U.S.-China diplomatic relations, taking back the lost part. In addition, Pompeo’s lifting of U.S. restrictions on relations with Taiwan was a response to the Chinese Communist Party’s arrest of more than 50 former lawmakers and pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong.

The Chinese Communist Party’s Hong Kong police arrested more than 50 former legislators on the morning of Jan. 6 local time, and Pompeo issued a statement on the evening of Jan. 6 EST condemning the arrests by Hong Kong authorities. He said, “The United States will not stand idly by as the people of Hong Kong suffer from communist oppression.” Later, on the same day that he issued a statement lifting self-imposed restrictions on relations with Taiwan, Pompeo issued a joint statement with the foreign ministers of Australia, Canada and Britain, condemning the Communist Party for tearing up the Sino-British Joint Declaration and using the imposed Hong Kong version of the National Security Law to arrest democrats, and urging Hong Kong authorities that the postponed September Legislative Council elections must be conducted in a fair manner.

Condemns Twitter ban on speech arrows referring to Chinese Communist Party and O’Hare forces

Twitter, Facebook and other social media often restrict President Trump’s speech, and recently Twitter has permanently deleted his account. On the same day he issued a statement lifting the self-imposed restrictions on U.S. relations with Taiwan, Pompeo used his personal account to tweet a condemnation of Twitter and the Chinese Communist Party.

He said, “Banning is dangerous and it’s not what the U.S. does. Pathetic! This is not a new tactic from the left. They’ve been banning opponents for years. We can’t allow them to ban the voices of 75 million Americans. This is not the Communist Party of China (where free speech is banned).” Pompeo also sent out a screenshot that showed that the number of tweets from people including Pelos, Biden and Harris jumped by tens of thousands overnight, while Pompeo and several conservatives lost tens of thousands of followers overnight.

Pompeo’s tweets directed his attacks at the Chinese Communist Party and the Obama and dark interest-dominated globalists.

Hong Kong dissident leader and prominent entrepreneur Mr. Yuen Bow-yee has pointed out that Trump has offended a vested interest for the benefit of the American people. This vested interest has the vested interest of the United States and the vested interest of the whole world, including the Chinese Communist Party. So, they are united against Trump.
