40% of Los Angeles health care refuses to vaccinate, experts worry: the fear of an outbreak in a few years

Sandra Lindsay, a nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York, became the first health care worker in the nation to receive the new crown vaccine last month on the 14th.

The new vaccine was introduced last month in the United States, and frontline health care workers are a priority. But so far, 40% of health care workers in Los Angeles County have refused the vaccine, raising concerns, and experts have warned that the situation must be understood and persuaded. In addition to Los Angeles County, up to 60% of nursing home workers in Ohio have refused to be vaccinated.

The Guardian reported that Susan, an Alaskan critical care nurse who has cared for many patients with new crowns and seen dozens die, said she refused to be vaccinated because she didn’t want to be a guinea pig: “I’m not an anti-vaccine advocate, I’ve had all the known vaccines, I’ve had the flu vaccine and always signed up for it on October 1, but why do I have to be the guinea pig this time? “Susan refused to give her last name for fear of retaliation.

Experts are worried about the situation and urge not to ignore the above figures. Whitney Robinson, an epidemiologist at the University of North Carolina, said that if these early data from health care workers are not processed, “it could mean that after all this effort and sacrifice, we could still see an outbreak in a few years, not only in 2021, but possibly in 2022, and possibly 2023.”

The American public is divided on whether or not to get vaccinated with the new crown vaccine. So far, there have also been reports of side effects associated with the vaccination, so the concerns of health care professionals are not unreasonable.
