U.S. media outlet Gateway Pundit reported on January 10 that U.S. attorney and legal scholar – Alan Dershowitz, and U.S. television news reporter and magazine columnist – Maria Sarah Bartiromo, discussed on Fox Sunday Talk this morning the latest plans of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party, to impeach President Trump before next week’s inauguration.
According to Alan Dershowitz, there is zero chance that the Democrats will impeach President Trump this week or after he leaves office.
Alan Dershowitz American lawyer and legal scholar, known for his scholarship on the U.S. Constitution and U.S. criminal law, is also a civil liberties advocate. From 1964 to 2013, he taught at Harvard Law School and was appointed Professor of Law at Felix Frankfurter School of Law in 1993. He has often spoken out on the Arab-Israeli conflict and has authored several books on the subject. He has defended Mike Tyson, Patricia Hearst, Julian Assange, Harry Reams, Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein, and was involved in the Simpson dream team and the impeachment of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Alan Dershowitz noted, “There is a Senate rule that this case cannot be heard in the Senate. According to the majority leader, the case will not go to trial until 1 p.m. on Jan. 20, an hour after President Trump leaves office. And the Constitution clearly states that “the president shall be removed from office upon his impeachment.” Congress does not have the power to impeach or try a “former president or a private citizen,” whether it’s a citizen named Donald Trump, or a citizen named Bellack Obama, or anyone else.”
