President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States in Washington, D.C., on the 20th of this month. A high-ranking government official said today that Vice President Mike Pence will attend the inauguration.
President Trump announced yesterday via Twitter that he would not attend Biden’s inauguration, sparking much discussion. In accordance with the long-standing practice of the United States, even if they belong to different parties, the outgoing president will attend the inauguration of his successor, to show a peaceful transfer of power.
Biden responded that it was good that Trump was not coming, but he welcomed Pence to attend the inauguration, “If (Pence) can come we will feel honored”.
