On Saturday, Breitbart News published an exclusive story “Pompeo sticks up for Trump: ‘I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished’ …… History will remember us well”.
Secretary of State Michael Pompeo gave a speech during a meeting with top Republican lawmakers and senior congressional staffers Friday evening, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished – not just in the areas of national security, foreign policy, where we’ve worked together, but what we’ve done on the family side, the pro-life work that we’ve done. Those are going to be things that are truly historic. I think history will remember us well when these things are written in books.” He said in his remarks.
Pompeo’s remarks came at the end of a private daylong meeting of the Republican Study Committee, chaired by Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ohio), the largest conservative caucus in the House. The lawmakers and aides discussed the conservative movement and where to go next.

Pompeo’s message was in stark contrast to that of Nikki Haley, Trump’s former U.N. ambassador, who told Republican National Committee members in a closed-door speech Thursday that Trump “will be judged harshly by history.”
It also stands in stark contrast to the two Trump Cabinet secretaries who resigned in recent days – Betsy DeVos and Elaine Chao.
Pompeo said what happened was tragic, but that those who walked away from the president “did not listen to the American people.”
He said, “While we all agree that the violence at the Capitol – where you work – is tragic, I’ve seen people walk away from the president. And they’re not listening to the American people, not at all.”
Pompeo also discussed the Trump administration’s success in foreign policy and contrasted it with the eight years under the Obama administration.
“We looked at eight years of foreign policy under the previous administration, and that was fantasy. Fantasy. They would come to agreements and arrangements that were not based on anything that had lasting potential, and if America First in foreign policy means anything, it means being realistic.”
Pompeo also said.
“It means being acutely aware that our only responsibility is to protect the American people. And when we do that, I’m very confident that we will increase the security of people around the world, and we will increase the security of other countries. But our mission setting every day is saying, ‘How do we make sure that everything we do secures America’s freedom?” That takes us away from a whole bunch of things. We’ve walked away from the World health Organization, we’ve walked away from the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, we’ve walked away from some of the core understandings of the World Trade Organization.
Each of these things is not good for the American people, not good for their prosperity, not good for their security. And we did the right thing. I think 75 million people still understand and get that feeling this November. They haven’t stopped understanding, I assure you.”
Pompeo’s remarks came as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has been trying to pressure Vice President Mike Pence (D-Calif.) and members of his Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from the presidency.
Amid reports that some members of Trump’s Cabinet are discussing doing so, Pompeo tweeted a photo of himself, intelligence director John Ratcliffe and White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien to show that he has not abandoned the president under Democratic pressure.
