On January 8, Xu Qinxian, the “general of resistance” of June 4, died at the age of 86. It is reported that he died under close surveillance in the midst of a serious illness. The latest news from the Hong Kong media said that there was something unusual about Xu Qinshen’s death, the official wanted to cremate him as soon as possible but his family did not agree. Jiang Yanyong, the military doctor who disclosed the Chinese Communist Party’s concealment of SARS, is also under house arrest, and his family says his condition worsened every time he was admitted to the hospital.

The Hong Kong-based China Human Rights and Democracy Information Center website said on Jan. 9 that there were questions about Xu Qinxian’s sudden death yesterday morning, and that the investigation found some anomalies. Officials are now reportedly eager to cremate Xu’s body, but his family does not agree.

Xu Qinxian resides in the Hebei Military District Dry Retreat an official responsible for the funeral of Xu Qinxian said in a telephone response, will not hold a farewell ceremony and memorial service.

In 1989, Xu Qinxian, then commander of the 38th Army, was called a rebel leader for refusing to lead his troops into Tiananmen Square to shoot down the June 4 student movement. Xu Qinxian was imprisoned and placed under house arrest by the military for 30 years on June 4.

During the New Year in 2016, he was rushed back to Shijiazhuang with pneumonia and has been bedridden in the military’s Baiqiu’en International Peace Hospital since then, but despite his inability to take care of himself, the military has set up open and hidden posts at the hospital, and even the doctors and nurses in the hospital are tasked with surveillance.

The report by the Human Rights and Democracy Information Center also mentions the recent situation of retired Chinese Communist military doctor Jiang Yangyong.

According to the report, the family of Dr. Jiang Yanyong was extremely worried about Jiang Yanyong’s safety after they were informed of the sudden death of Xu Qinxian, who had pneumonia in his old age. The family said that if there is an opportunity to go to hospitals outside the mainland, including hospitals in Hong Kong, but Jiang Yanyong is under house arrest and not allowed to leave the house, the family is very anxious.

Mr. and Mrs. Jiang Yanyong.

Jiang Yangyong, 89, was formerly the director of the 301 General Hospital of the Chinese Communist Party military and holds the rank of major general. Jiang Yangyong, who was forced to retire in 1993 because he refused to agree with the crackdown on the June 4 students, is a liberal patriarch of the CCP, along with Bao Tong, secretary of the late CCP General Secretary Zhao Ziyang, and others. In recent years, he has frequently appealed to the top echelons of the Communist Party of China to give a proper name to the June Fourth Incident.

In 2003, Jiang Yangyong also made public the serious SARS epidemic in mainland China, which had been concealed from the public.

The Rensong Democracy Movement Information Center also said that calls made to so-called sensitive figures in China today were clearly echoed, indicating that the phones were tapped. Those tapped today included the family of Zhao Ziyang, Hu Yaobang’s relatives, the family of former Mao Zedong’s secretary Li Rui, the family of former Chinese Press and Publication Director Du Guozheng, and some 64 student leaders and 64 victims, etc. Du Guozheng’s daughter Du Mingming said directly that her home phone was being tapped.
