Hawley sues his publisher in retaliation for challenging the Electoral College

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley said on Thursday that he plans to Sue publisher Simon&Schuster for canceling his book contract.

It was “Orwellian” to cancel the contract, Hawley said. Simon & Schuster is a company of CBS Corporation, one of the six largest publishers in the United States.

In a statement, Hawley said Simon & Schuster canceled the contract “because I led the [challenge] debate in the Senate on election integrity on behalf of my constituents, which they have now decided to redefine as’ seduction. ‘”

“Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute, this is a direct attack on the First Amendment. Only ‘approved speech’ can be published now, which is an attempt by the left to silence all those with whom it disagrees. I will do my best to fight against this phenomenon. See you in court.”

Simon & Schuster said earlier in the day that Hawley’s opposition to certain states’ electoral votes at a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6 led to the decision to cancel the publishing contract.

“We did not take this decision lightly,” the company said in a statement. “While it is always our mission as publishers to spread voices and opinions, we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and we cannot support Senator Hawley in the wake of his involvement in the Dangerous Threat.”

In the wake of Mr. Holly’s announcement of the lawsuit, Simon & Schuster said it believed the cancellation was legal.

At a joint meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Hawley complied with federal law to challenge Pennsylvania’s electoral votes because of a variety of evidence of alleged fraud in the state.

Mr Hawley was the first senator to announce publicly that he would challenge the results of some states’ electoral college votes at a joint session of Congress on January 6th, to the resentment of the left. On Monday night, a group of Antifa members threatened Holly’s wife and young daughter in front of his Washington, DC, home.

“Let me be clear: My family and I will not be intimidated by left-wing violence,” Hawley said. Holly went on to accuse the Antifa members of their actions: “[You] don’t have the guts to do [such a thing] in the daytime, only under the cover of darkness so that you can hide. You suck, and we will not be intimidated.”
