Guns seized in D.C. after 3 pipe bombs were found

The clashes on Capitol Hill came as police in Washington found pipe bombs outside the neighbouring headquarters of the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee.

A suspected pipe bomb was also found inside parliament, but the police did not confirm that. Petrol bombs were also found near the parliament.

Washington police chief Paul Conti said pipe bombs were found in cars parked outside the RNC and DNC headquarters, and a long gun was seized in the car. He said that after receiving multiple requests for reinforcements from the Capitol Police, police were immediately dispatched to help clear the area and remove the pipe bombs. The FBI confirmed that two pipe bombs had been safely defused and the case was under investigation.

In addition to the National Guard, officers from three states and four counties, including Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey, as well as the National Park Police, have been sent to Washington to reinforce them.
