The number of seriously ill people also reached 121, updating the record for the fourth consecutive day. The emergency declaration for Tokyo and the three prefectures of Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa, where the New Coronavirus is spreading severely, was issued on the evening of January 7 and lasted for about one month, from January 8 to February 7. The government hoped that the situation would be lifted en route so as not to have a major impact on the economy, but the epidemic is getting worse every day and most experts from the government’s New Coronavirus Infection Subsection believe that it will be difficult to solve the problem within a month, and some experts believe that it will take at least two months to reduce the number of new infections to less than 100 per day.

On January 6, the number of infected people across Japan surpassed 6,000, reaching 6,001, another record high, and a declaration of national emergency was called for.
