On Wednesday (6), after the storming of Congress, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser (Muriel Bowser) first declared a curfew and then extended the city’s state of public emergency for 15 days until January 21. It is believed that Bowser, a Democrat, made this decision to ensure that Biden could be sworn in without incident.
According to The Hill on Jan. 6, Bowser announced on the same day that the public emergency in Washington would be extended for 15 days until the day after Joe Biden was sworn in, which is expected to end at 15:00 p.m. on Jan. 21.
The order authorizes D.C. Chief Executive Kevin Donahue to take such measures as may be necessary or appropriate to protect the people and property of the city from the effects of a public emergency, the newspaper said. It also authorizes several D.C. leaders, including the administrator, deputy mayor and chief financial officer, to apply to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for assistance to “reimburse expenses incurred or obtain funds needed under the order.
Previously, Bowser first issued a curfew order, which will be enforced from 6 p.m. on the 6th to 6 p.m. on the 7th. And the new public emergency order does not specify whether the curfew will continue, but the authorities still allow people to leave the streets in the event of a curfew.
The debate over election fraud was interrupted when some protesters broke into the Capitol during a joint session of Congress on the afternoon of the 6th, forcing lawmakers to immediately evacuate the site. Capitol police opened fire and at least one woman died from the shooting.
According to police sources, two other men and one woman died during the incident, one of them died of serious injuries after falling from a height in the west wing of the Capitol, while the other two died of cardiac arrest, and it is estimated that the deceased were suffering from serious illnesses before they died. The specific cause of death has yet to be confirmed by a physician’s examination.
Acting D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee also told the media that 47 people were arrested that day for curfew violations, four others for unlicensed possession of handguns, and one for possession of a prohibited weapon. After the storming of Congress, police seized pipe bombs outside the offices of the Democratic Party and the Republican National Committee, and found long guns and napalm in a car on Capitol Hill.
However, according to reports, face matching technology has confirmed that many of those who led the storming of the Capitol on the afternoon of the 6th were members of the left-wing extremist group Antifa, who disguised themselves as Trump supporters, mingled with the crowd to stir up trouble, and led the storming of the Capitol.
Another video being circulated on social media shows that before the storming of Congress, a group of police officers suspected of being on guard outside the Capitol took the initiative to move the protective fence and put the protesting crowd inside the cordon, and an unidentified person with his head wrapped in a hood even waved to the protesters outside inside the cordon, greeting them to enter. The crowd of netizens highly suspect that the storming of the National Assembly is likely to be a deliberate trap planned by someone.
The above video is only an incomplete clip, so it is not yet possible to accurately determine whether the scene shown in the footage is the one that took place in the afternoon of January 6. The details of the facts have yet to be investigated by the police and more conclusive evidence from those in the know.
