President Trump’s Deputy National Security Adviser Bomen Resigns

Breitbart News reported Jan. 6 that Deputy National Security Advisor Matthew Pottinger resigned the same day after supporters of President Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol to protest the outcome of the 2020 election.

In President Trump’s radical stance on China, Bomen was a major force in the U.S. government, supporting Hong Kong’s protest for freedom.

Jennifer Jacobs, a Bloomberg News reporter who broke the news of Bomen’s resignation at the time, said Bomen had intended to resign on Election Day but was persuaded by Trump’s national security adviser, Robert O’Brien, to stay.

Media reports included O’Brien’s name among the officials who intended to resign following the protests that swept the Capitol by Trump supporters.

Other officials who announced their resignations include Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff to first lady Melania Trump, Sarah Matthews, deputy press secretary, and Rickie Nicet, White House social secretary.

In a statement, Grisham said, “It has been an honor to serve this country in the White House, and I am proud to be a part of Mrs. Trump’s mission to help children around the world and proud of the administration’s many accomplishments.”
