U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft, who has repeatedly supported Taiwan‘s international participation, will visit Taiwan. In response, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement and the two sides are actively coordinating on the details of the visit.
In response to Pompeo’s statement released on the 6th EST, confirming that U.S. Ambassador Kelly Craft, permanent representative to the United Nations, will lead a delegation to Taiwan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ou Jiang’an said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sincerely welcomes the visit, and that the two sides are actively coordinating with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) on the details of Ambassador Craft’s visit.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced that the U.S. government is going to take the lead in the development of the U.S. government.

In September last year, Craft had a historic luncheon with Taiwan’s top official at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, Li Guangzhang, promising to assist Taiwan’s participation in the United Nations; in the same month, Craft again expressed his support for Taiwan’s “full participation” in the United Nations, even stating that “the United Nations without Taiwan’s full participation is self-deceiving and deceiving the world”, while also placing Taiwan’s unique species of Taiwan black bear puppet in the background, supporting Taiwan’s implication.
Craft had mentioned during the re-election of some seats in the UN Human Rights Council that the Chinese Communist Party’s serious human rights abuses were in stark contrast to Taiwan’s, and that “Taiwan is a real force for good in the world.
