While Shandong Province was experiencing a sudden drop in temperature, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea of Penglai District, Yantai City. The quake was felt in Weihai and Dalian. Half of the province of Shandong had a low temperature of -10 ℃ or less, and many places in Shandong issued an emergency notice that classes could be suspended due to the cold wave.

On this occasion, at 16:46 on January 6, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea of Penglai District, Yantai City, Shandong Province (37.99 degrees north latitude, 120.41 degrees east longitude), with a depth of 7 km. Netizens in Laizhou, Weihai and Dalian said they felt the quake; netizens in Penglai said they shook a lot.
In addition, due to the sudden drop in temperature, Shandong many local education bureau issued an emergency notice that the cold wave can be affected by the suspension of classes. Weifang, for example, the city’s kindergartens, elementary school, junior high schools closed for one day on the 7th (boarding schools to determine their own), counties and urban areas, schools can be closed since the afternoon of the 6th.
