On January 3, an outbreak occurred in Nangong City and Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.

A local outbreak of the Chinese communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, continues to heat up, with a large number of infected cases increasing in a short period of time. Shijiazhuang’s Gaocheng district, where the outbreak occurred, was upgraded to a “high-risk area” on January 6. As the epidemic has intensified recently, local people are worried about the lack of food due to the closure of their neighborhoods and have been rushing to local supermarkets to buy food and necessities.

Hebei has entered a state of war as the epidemic heats up. According to the Hebei Provincial health Commission on Jan. 6, 20 new local confirmed cases and 43 new local asymptomatic infections were reported in Hebei Province on Jan. 5. Among the local confirmed cases, Shijiazhuang reported 19 cases and Xingtai reported 1 case. Five new cases of asymptomatic infections were imported from abroad.

Several highway routes in Hebei are closed to vehicles and vehicles are advised to return. Local classes have been suspended due to the outbreak.

There are also local netizens said that when they came home from work on the evening of the 5th through the supermarket to buy food, they found people with multiple shopping bags full of ready-to-eat food, “originally did not panic much, but to see everyone rush to buy food, I also could not help but rush together to buy, the shelves were almost empty.”
