In an operation that began early Wednesday morning (Jan. 6), Hong Kong police used more than 1,000 officers to arrest 53 people on suspicion of “subversion of state power” in connection with the primaries held by the pro-democracy camp on the eve of the Legislative Council elections scheduled for last year.
